The Juggler's Effect

The Analogy:

A juggler juggles two balls. The audience applauds half-heartedly and wants to see the juggler juggle three balls. So, the juggler does, and then the audience wants to see him juggler four, five, six, seven, etc. It is not until the juggler drops the ball that the audience rewards him with laughter and loud applause.

The Meaning of the Analogy:

The very second people find out that you can do remote viewing, one of two reactions will appear. Either they will want to put you to work in some serious effort, or they will want to see a "dog and pony show" to be entertained. Either way, they will want to see if you can do what you say.

So, you sit down and do a target for them. If you fail, they will begin to make excuses for you and tell you that you really succeeded, when you know for a fact that you did not. If you do well, the serious person will immediately put your talents to use. However, the person who is only wanting to be entertained will surprisingly not reward you for a session well done. They will immediately say, "Well, if you can do that, then let's see if you can do this other target I have...."

They will keep having targets for you until you fail, and then they will begin to make excuses for you and tell you that you really succeeded, when you know for a fact that you did not. With these people, it is not until you "drop the ball" that you will get your reward for a job well done.

The subconscious mind may have childish motivations, but it is also extremely smart. It learns very quickly the difference between when it is asked to do a serious session for a good reason, and when it is being asked to do a "dog and pony show" for the entertainment of a boorish crowd. It learns very quickly and efficiently that, for them, the sooner it "drops the ball", the sooner it will get the crowd's pity and false praise, and finally be finished with the show.

The answer to this dilemma is pretty simple: learn to distinguish when people are just wanting to be entertained and when they are serious about the work you do. If they want you to entertain them, realize that you do not have to. You do not have to spend your entire life proving psi abilities to every person in the world, one person at a time. If all they want is to see you drop the ball.... just say "No.".
